Sometimes the best stories are the ones you never planned.
We headed to Victoria Yards to shoot new Basecamp content. Read all about it on our other blog HERE.
The plan was simple. Spend the day with local makers, grab a good coffee, create some content and celebrate one of our favourite places in Johannesburg.
Then we met The People's Pantry.

Tucked away inside Victoria Yards is a community food security programme doing incredible work every single day.
They rescue food that would otherwise go to waste. They support local soup kitchens. They run a unique Swap Shop where community members exchange recyclable materials for healthy groceries and fresh produce. More importantly, they're helping build a stronger, more food-secure community.
As we spent time with the team, we asked a simple question.
"How can we help?"
The answer wasn't what we expected.
They needed wagons.
Every day, rescued food arrives that needs to be unloaded, sorted and moved before it reaches the people who need it most. A practical wagon makes that job easier.
So we donated Basecamp Wagons.

Watching them immediately become part of their daily routine got us thinking.
Why should this stop here?
From 1 August, every Basecamp Wagon sold will help support The People's Pantry. For every wagon purchased, Basecamp will donate R25 to help them continue the important work they do across Johannesburg.
So yes, your wagon will still carry the cooler, the chairs, the picnic blanket and all the gear your mates conveniently forgot to bring.
But now it'll help carry something bigger too.
That's what the Urban Wilderness has always meant to us.
It's not just beaches, braais and weekends away.
It's the people.
The communities.
The local businesses.
The places doing good, often without anyone noticing.
Sometimes supporting your community starts with something surprisingly simple.
Sometimes...
Even Wagon meant for Urban Outdoorsy adventures, can carry Something Bigger.
